I believe it’s important to be active in our community so, as a REALTOR®, I have:
1.) Participated as a member of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors for more than 35 years,
2.) Served as a member of the Board of Directors of not only the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors but also of the Grand Rapids Multiple Listing Service Board,
3.) Been a member of the Professional Standards Committee for many years,
4.) Served on many other committees set up by the real estate board,
5.) Earned the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation, which represents the highest designation for sales associates, recognizing their professional accomplishments in experience and education and
6.) Earned the GRI accreditation which recognizes an agent’s adherence to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Realtors and his/her continued desire to provide the highest level of professional services to his/her clients.
Locally I was voted REALTOR® of the Year (licensed as a salesperson) and was awarded membership in the Society of Distinguished Real Estate Professionals (SODREP) which is given to REALTOR® members of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors who have demonstrated a commitment to professionalism through education, community service, political activity, business accomplishments and Association participation over a minimum ten-year period.
I have also felt that it’s important to be a part of Metropolitan Hospital since my father, Dr. L. Vaughn Tremper, played a significant role in the growth and development of that hospital from a “house” on Lake Drive to the large 170-acre complex of all LEED-certified buildings that house what is now known as Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming/Byron Center. I’ve been a part of that health care community for over fifty years. I’m a Past Chairman and presently sit on the Board of Directors for the Metro Health Hospital Foundation and also on the Board of Directors for the Metro Health Hospital Corporation.
Our children and grandchildren bring much joy to our hearts. We have two beautiful grown children and four lovely grandchildren. Our son Patrick was a professional tri-athlete for many years and is now a top real estate agent in Boulder, Colorado. Our daughter Kristin lives here in East Grand Rapids with her husband, three daughters and one son and has become an active participant in both the community and Metro Health Hospital. As you can imagine, we see Kristin and family regularly but Patrick not often enough. We purchased a home in Boulder 10+ years ago so we can spend time with Patrick as well.
At home GL and I enjoy the company of our four – yes, four – lovable dogs. Our family includes three French Briards and one Coton de Tulear. I recently joined the American Kennel Club, the Briard Club of America, the Atlantic States Briard Club where I sit as a Director and the Michigan/Ohio Briard Club. I’ve even shown our Briards on more than one occasion and have greatly enjoyed it and the friendships that have evolved from my involvement in the sport.
